Welcome to the Aesir community brought to you by Ivory Tower and Naliss. Aesir welcomes independant filmmakers to join up and become community members. Your films will be represented (but not budgeted) by Ivory Towers and Naliss. This community is meant to be a small type of "guild". Webster's dictionary defines a guild as an association for mutual aid and the promotion of common interests (in this case filming). This is what Aesir intends to do, bring beginning filmmakers together and promote their talent and interest in filmmaking. This web site will try to give you filmming tips and information for your films. Community member films can be reviewed by other members and eventually online audiences. Criticism will be intended for aiding your film's production and giving you outside tips from your community friends. Becoming a member is free, all you need to do is love movies, make movies, and respect movies. With the communities help, maybe you will someday become a great filmmaker.
Becoming a Member
Just sign up, its free, and fill in the required and optional information. The Aesir leaders will personally acknowledge each member who joins. All members will have access to each other's information. Finding someone in your area is a good idea for forming crews. Members don't necessarily need experience before joining, but it is a good idea to take a class or read some books because Aesir will not have all the things you need or should know about filming. Message boards are also ways to get information by communicating with other members. If you don't want people emailing you at your current address, I suggest signing up for another email account strictly just for Aesir emails.
Groups or Crews
Joining a group or crew is generaly good idea for filmmaking. It's hard to make a film with only one person. Join with family or friends, and even other Aesir members. Members can join with others working under the same studio. You can hire people to be directors, camera men, actors, etc. If you want to be the head of your group, crew, or whatever, let your studio know, either Ivory Tower or Naliss, and your good to go once you have the rest of your crew signed in. Your studio will try to help you keep on top of your production, but remember, if your running the show, your going to have more work to do than everyone else. Aesir will allow members to find eachother in the community and exchange ideas and ask others what they think about certain things like naming your film and coming up with a plot for your script. Memebers in your area can even join your group if you think they live close enough to reach the set. You can join Aesir by yourself, or you can sign up with a group of people, making a crew or group together (recommended). You don't absolutely need to sign every crew memeber up, but it's a good idea. Then they will also have access to their film status.
Working Under A Studio
It doesn't absolutely make a difference which studio you choose to submit your film idea to, Ivory Towers or Naliss, since both companies work nearly side by side. Just know that each studio is led by different people so they may have different opinions on choosing your films. Aesir will review your script and recommend which studio you should submit it to. If the studio likes it, which it probably would, they will post it in the community and you can begin making it. If the script is rejected, the studio will make comments and suggestions to make it worth filming. When the studio okays it, and you have finished the production, then it will be placed on the wesite for public viewing. Aesir may also show it in the Aesir Community Film Festival, if enough films are made by the community.
Communicating With Other Members
Aesir will have message boards and other ways for you to communicate with Aesir members. Someday chat rooms may become available. Member statuses and information will be open to all members, except any information you specifically ask for us not to place openly for other members. Email will be an important way for communication between members so don't use an email that recieves a lot of junk mail.
Aesir and You
Aesir wants to know as it can much about you and your films. When filling out your information, make sure to give us a lot of good information about you. Its important for filmmakers to know each other and what films they like to make. Aeisir won't post anything you don't want anyone but the very few leaders of Aesir to know. We can keep secrets and we won't give any addresses or phone numbers out to anyone if you don't want us to. These things will usueally be optional, but anything we require that you don't want public to other members, let us know. Aesir will have film logs available for you to write in. Other Aesir members can look at this and see what your up to, and its a good thing for your own production, along with other organization abilities we offer you. We will have printable shot lists, storyboards, calenders, crew lists, etc. We'll try to help you stay organized and on track throughout your production. We'll have a status sheet for you also, which shows how well other memebrs think your film is doing.
Show and Tell
Aesir members will have the ability to see each other's film status. After films are completed, they can be submitted to the web site for viewing by all online audiences. Aesir may even run the Aesir Community Film Festival somewhere in California showing the submitted films.
